Plaque is a living biofilm, and no two samples look exactly alike. Under phase-contrast microscopy, our hygiene team may observe different bacterial shapes and movement patterns, along with yeast, protozoa, and some of your own cells.

That live view is an educational tool—one part of a complete oral health assessment considered alongside your examination, periodontal measurements, symptoms, and health history.

Microscope

At our office, we don’t believe every mouth should receive a one-size-fits-all cleaning. That’s why we use a high-powered 4K microscope to examine a small oral sample for every new patient and at every hygiene appointment. This allows our team to actually see the microorganisms and other cellular activity present in the sample and use that information as an additional piece of the puzzle when evaluating your oral health. Rather than simply cleaning and moving on, by monitoring these findings over time, we can better educate you about your oral health, track changes from visit to visit, and tailor your hygiene recommendations to your individual needs. It’s one more way we bring technology, prevention, and a deeper understanding of your oral microbiology into your routine dental care.

Ozone

At our dental office, we incorporate ozonated water and ozone gas into every cleaning as part of our commitment to a thorough, biologically minded approach to oral care. Ozone is oxygen in a highly reactive form and has antimicrobial properties that can help reduce certain bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Used appropriately in the dental setting, ozonated water can support irrigation and cleansing during treatment, while ozone gas and/or ozonated glycerin may be used in specific areas of the mouth as part of our clinical protocols. Our goal is to create a cleaner oral environment, support healthy gums and tissues, and complement—not replace—proven dental hygiene practices such as professional cleaning, brushing, flossing, and regular dental examinations. We use ozone as an additional tool to enhance the care we provide during every visit.

Laser

We use dental laser technology as an added tool to help give your gums a more thorough and comfortable cleaning. During scaling and root planing, the laser can be used alongside traditional instruments to help reduce bacteria and infected, irritated tissue from around the teeth, allowing the gum tissue to heal and reattach more effectively. We may also use the laser during certain debridement procedures or even as an added step during a routine cleaning when we see areas that could benefit from it. Depending on your individual needs, laser use may help reduce inflammation, support healthier gums, and promote a cleaner environment around your teeth. Our goal is simple: to use the right combination of tools for each patient so your cleaning is as thorough and effective as possible.
